Meeting No. 321 Venue: Grand Hotel ; Date: Oct. 5th ,2012
Time: 19:00P.M.~21:30p.m.
Meeting Theme: The things money can’t buy
Attendant Guests (5 persons): April Chung, Debbie Tsai, Jessica Yeh, Judy (KTC), Sharon Lin
Attendant members: 11 persons
President: Austin Chien
Manual Speech : (Master: Austin Chien)
Our president, Austin opened the meeting by encouraging all members to attend area D1 humorous speech
contest and evaluation contest on Oct. 6th morning in 左營高中/忠孝樓。
1. Sarah Chang (C9):Glamping (Persuade with Power )
Again, Sarah brought us a new vision on a glamour activity, glamping. She started her delivery by explaining its meaning and then had a recall about the history of camping activity for the audience. She also showed us many attractive pictures to arouse our interest. Should Sarah run the business in Taiwan, many of us must be her clients.
2. Tracy Yang (A17): Time for One More House (Conquering the Cold Call)
The guide book Tracy chose is about “Persuasive speaking’ and the subject of her A17 speech is to break the cold call between a sales person and her/his potential buyer without giving too much pressure to the later. That’s why Tracy needs a member (thank Sophia’s generous and cordial assistance) to be her partner for role play at the first part of her speech, then introduced the very expensive item (a store of two floors and one basement) briefly to the audience, and asked audience to give comments to help her improve the conversation skill and related contents. From observation, most audience understood what Tracy wanted to deliver though there were not many responses as expected. Thank God!
Table Topic: (Master: Vincent Chien)
Industrious Vincent prepared well for the theme he chose and asked the audience questions as below:
1. How many things that money can’t buy?
2. Could you share with us the story of your first love?
3. Are you happy with your family?
4. How to maintain your health?
5. If money can buy anything, what will you buy first?
Evaluation: (Master: Debbie Tsai)
Members love to see Sophia’s being a session master because she knows how to introduce her team members gracefully and elegantly, and properly.
1. Sophia Lin: After complimenting Sarah’s speech, Sophia suggested Sarah to have some more vocal variety and power while persuading the audience to buy her introduction on the new activity, glamping.
2. Mark Huang: Mark asked three questions about Tracy’s speech to the audience and dealt with cold silence with his humor. He still gave lots of compliments to Tracy and encouraged her to go on for the next goal.
Grammar Correction (Jessica Yeh):
How lucky we were to have Jessica from KTC to be our grammarian. She showed her profession on the grammar correction with charming and sweet voice. I found all audience were indulged in her language evaluation.

General Evaluator’s Comments (Debbie Tsai)
We do appreciate Debbie for she is not only smart, quick, but also humorous while giving us suggestions and compliments. Believe that all attendants must feel flattered and inspired by her wise words.
1. It’s important for a leader to use positive and supportive words to encourage members to attend or participate in any activity or event. Since the meeting air will become warmer and more inspiring.
And, it’s very important for guests to have the first impression about the meeting climate.
2. Master of Table Topic should announce the purpose of table topics before starting all questions because there are always new guests who are not familiar with the rules or purpose.
3. Audience should give response to the speaker’s as the interaction between audience and the speaker is essential. Or, the speaker may feel frustrated or wonderful if the listeners get his/her points or not.
4. To improve the meeting quality, to learn more and share more, YSTC should be more active to invite members from other clubs to its meetings. Also, members of YSTC should try to visit other clubs as often as possible.
Dear all, still remember the three reasons for Debbie, Judy and Jessica’s coming and supporting we YSTC? (A sincere invitation letter from Mark, feedback for Austin’s assistance of being the test speaker for their in-club speech contest, and the close friendship between us/club number:1904 & 1905!)
