Meeting No. 323 Venue: Grand Hotel; Date: Nov.2nd, 2012
Time: 07:00 p.m. - 09:30 p.m.
Meeting Theme: Working Holiday
Attendant Guests (6 persons): Mark Gosling, Debbie Tsai, and Watson Weng (KTC); Sharon Lin, Kero Su, Vernon Yang
Attendant: embers: 13 persons
President: Austin Chien

Austin was very humorous and excited tonight, and we audience could tell from his opening the meeting and
showing appreciation to the guests, which affected members a lot. Therefore, we all had fun and much laughter during the whole process.

Manual Speech : (Master: Casey Lin)
Casey is a lady of consideration and caution, so she introduced the main purposes and theme of a Toastmasters meeting to guests. Also , introduced the three speakers in warm and proper words respectively.

1. Sharon Lin(C3): My Coming High School (Get to The Point )
For a teenager like Sharon, it’s not easy to speak in public with organized contents, but she did a great job tonight. She told us the story of her becoming a student of 三民高中,also the things she has to deal with and learn in the coming three years. Though she had script in her hand, she will be better by practices time after time.

2. Jimmy Shih(A9): A Cat in the Hat (The Play: Interpretive Reading)
Jimmy was really thoughtful to explain the main objectives of his A9 speech: an interpretive reading for a play. He also prepared several visual aids, a hat, two magazines, and one cup to help the audience have better understanding on his reading and performance. Though there were too many characters in the play, he did a lot of effort and tried his best to distinguish them by vocal varieties. We should learn the will and spirit of his preparation. Keep going, Jimmy.

3. Terence Ho (Rehearsal): Hair Washing
Compared with the in-club contest, Terence again did a great improvement on the same topic tonight because he had many rehearsals and modifications during the past two weeks. Should he pay some attention to the tempo and speed, the performance would be much better.

Table Topic: (Master: Sarah Chang)
Sarah chose a popular theme, working holiday, and inspired the audience to answers her questions successfully. From the reaction, we knew that we all loved the theme and her questions.

1. Are you for or against the program of working holiday? (answered by John Lin)

2. What countries offer us the visa of working holiday? (answered by Jimmy Shih)

3. What advantages does working holiday have for young people? (answered by Mark Gosling)

4. If you can/could choose the job, what kind of job will/would you do? (answered by Watson Wen)

5. What disadvantages does working holiday have? (answered by Kero Su)

6. What country you would/will choose for your working holiday? (answered by Debbie Tsai)

Evaluation: (Master: Frank Chien)
Frank was an industrious session master, because he prepared his script to remind him and introduced the function of evaluation first to let the guests have a rough idea about the session. He also hosted the session successfully.

1. Sophia Lin: Elegant Sophia had a brief repetition of Sharon’s speech and then encouraged her to go for her next goal by asking audience question. And her main suggestion to Sharon is to have more practices and rehearsals to conquer her nervousness.

2. Mark Huang (Andy Liu): Mark said that it was his honor and torture to be Jimmy’s evaluator since he had to pay much attention to the contents and figure out the number of characters of the play. He talked that in a way of humor which also amused the audience. And, his main suggestion to Jimmy is to choose a play of 2-3 characters to make his performance easier to be understood and appreciated.

3. Mark Gosling: Mark from KTC is definitely a professional and helpful evaluator. It is not just because he is a native English speaker, but he always offer useful and straight comments to his speakers. His suggestions to Terence were: pay attention to the size of the contest stage, watch the time of pose for audience’s reaction, and watch the position of wireless when he will have gestures or body movements during the contest.

3. The atmosphere of tonight’s meeting was really hilarious and full of warmness and excitement. We members all understood it was because of the effort of each speaker and session master, also, the demonstration of senior and experienced members from other clubs, and many of us were touched by the air. The guest, Vernon Yang, was impressed a lot as well and that is what we need and have to show to members and guests.

Therefore, dear all, please remember the air tonight and try our best to involve in each meeting to make the quality improved time by time and to recruit as many great new members as we can. Like our president, Austin, said, “Let’s work together and grow together!”
